Can the tooth after RCT be infected again?

Can the tooth after RCT be infected again?

If the tooth infection cannot be cured by normal treatment, it is necessary to treat the veins inside the root, which is called RCT (Root Canal Treatment). RCT should be done when the infection reaches the tooth nerve. If there is no infection in the veins, normal fillings will also work.

If the micro-organisms that are our mouth friends find a way to reach the inner layer of the tooth, i.e. the pulp, the vein of the tooth becomes infected. Because of this, our teeth can hurt and pus can accumulate in the gums. In such a case, we have to do RCT to reduce the pain and cure the infection without removing our natural (permanent) teeth. When treating the root of the tooth, a small hole is made in the chewing part or the upper part of the tooth and the root is treated.

Under what circumstances should RCT be done?

When the tooth nerve is infected and the tooth hurts, due to not being treated in time, the infection has spread from the inner layer of the tooth to the bone and the gum has ripened, and sometimes the face, cheek and throat are painful. Also, RCT should be done in case of death of tooth nerve due to injury, fracture of tooth due to injury. After RCT, the toothache will decrease.

How is it done?

In case of toothache, RCT treatment is started by placing a needle around it, making it painless. A small hole is made in the top of the tooth to access the root and a small tube cleaning device is inserted to remove the vein.

Thus, after the canals are completely cleaned, artificial canals known as gutta percha are placed in the canals containing the canals and the hole made in the upper part of the tooth is cemented.

After RCT, the tooth becomes weak due to lack of blood vessels and blood supply. Therefore, to make the tooth completely strong, a shell (crown) should be applied to it. The jaws, especially those used for chewing, require a lot of shell. If you don't wear the shell, there is a risk of tooth fracture.

Do you get worms again in the teeth after RCT?

Even after the RCT, if the health of the teeth and mouth is not taken care of, the teeth will be eaten by worms and other problems will occur. Therefore, special attention should be paid to oral hygiene to avoid recurrence of dental problems after treatment.

Advantages of RCTs

By doing RCT, you can save your permanent teeth, which does not reduce the beauty. Toothache is reduced. There was a possibility of breaking the remaining teeth if something was put on them, it can also be saved by wearing a dental cap by doing RCT.

Things to consider after doing an RCT

Special attention should be paid to dental hygiene and oral health after RCT. In the morning and evening, after eating, you should brush your mouth thoroughly, and to keep your mouth free of bacteria, you should rinse your mouth after every meal. Do not eat too much sweet and sour food.

If food gets stuck in the teeth after RCT, swelling or pain may occur, so dental floss should be used. Avoid touching your teeth frequently after this treatment. Because by doing this the crown may come out and feel pain.

If toothache or any other abnormal symptoms are observed even after RCT, the doctor should be contacted immediately.
