Will damaged lungs recover after quitting smoking?

Will damaged lungs recover after quitting smoking?

Cigarettes are addictive. Addiction increases the amount of cigarettes. As the amount increases, the lungs become worse. As it worsens, it causes lung cancer. It gradually damages every organ.

Everyone who is addicted to cigarettes knows that this is the result. Despite knowing this, he does not stop smoking. Because after being addicted, the mind does not want to quit. Whatever happens to them, will happen tomorrow. They continue their addiction to cigarettes saying that their health has deteriorated.

But most of them don't know. As soon as you quit smoking, the condition of the damaged lungs will improve. The faster you can quit, the risk of lung damage is reduced by 90 percent.

Is it possible to give up smoking damaged lungs to be as healthy as before?

Of course it is possible. By the time a cigarette takes the form of an addiction from one or two cigarettes, the cells of the lungs have been damaged. In that case, if you quit smoking, 90% of the damaged lungs will improve after five years. Because quitting smoking means removing the trigger that destroys cells. The process of formation and destruction of cells is happening throughout the body. This sequence is also triggered by the cigarette, so the damage will be done. Once this trigger is removed, the cells get a chance to return to normal.

In this case, the longer it has been more than five years, the lower the risk of lung damage. The deteriorated condition gradually improves. But that risk is not reduced to zero. But if you stop smoking before 40 years, the risk can be reduced to almost zero. Likewise, even if people between 70 and 80 years of age quit smoking, its benefits have been seen.

Not only that, even if you quit smoking after cancer, the medicine will work effectively, the risk of second cancer will be reduced and the risk of spreading will be reduced. If you quit smoking even when you have low oxygen and asthma, you will see beneficial results. Therefore, regardless of the condition, age and disease of smoking, effective improvement in health can be seen when quitting smoking.

Science says that blood pressure becomes normal within 20 minutes after a person quits smoking. If you can experience easier breathing in three days, your chances of having a heart attack will decrease by 50% in one year. Within five years of quitting smoking, the risk of paralysis is the same as that of a non-smoker, and in 15 years, the risk of a heart attack is the same as that of a non-smoker.

Limiting smoking does not eliminate the risk

Some people think that they can reduce the risk of cigarette smoking by self-medication. They practice that. If you practice it and give it up completely, then the effort becomes effective. But even if the amount is reduced, if they continue the habit of smoking, the limitation will not work.

Because smoking is a poison for the whole body even if you eat a little or a lot. Due to the habit of smoking, the risk of lung damage does not decrease even if the amount of cigarettes is reduced. Studies have also shown that limiting smoking does not reduce the risk.

Instead, it brings some changes in the way of eating. This means that the only option is to quit smoking. Lung health will improve only if you quit smoking.

When does smoking affect the lungs?

Nicotine captivates the brain so much that the mind pretends that nothing has happened without it. Due to which people get addicted to it by mocking one after another. If you smoke cigarettes every day, it will start affecting you within a few months.

In this case, the more cigarettes are consumed, the more the risk of lung damage increases. If you smoke cigarettes continuously for 15 years, there is 40 times the risk of lung cancer and chronic asthma.

Recent studies have shown that people who smoke just one cigarette a day are 50 percent more likely to develop heart disease and 30 percent more likely to be paralyzed than people who never smoke.

How does smoking affect the lungs?

Cigarettes cause lung infections. Chemicals in cigarettes cause allergies and increase the risk of colds, pneumonia, and viral infections. Chemicals can damage the small airways and soft tissues of the lungs. It causes narrowing of the airways, which can cause coughing and chest pains.

According to an international journal, smoking also destroys the small air sacs in the lungs, called alveoli. Once the alveoli are damaged, they have difficulty repairing themselves. If enough alveoli are destroyed, there is a high risk of infection from respiratory diseases.

Smoking increases air pollution. When the smoke of smoking goes into the air, it remains for five hours, it is flying. When a person breathes, it goes directly into the lungs. This is also increasing cancer and other respiratory diseases. Which are becoming the main cause of non-communicable diseases.

By damaging the cells of the lungs, it also affects the ductal glands. Because of this, more phlegm comes from the gland and cough occurs frequently.

Smoking increases the risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). If this problem occurs, the trachea constricts and makes it difficult to breathe, cough increases and the flow of oxygen decreases. Similarly, cigarettes also damage the lungs by creating a network. Which is called ILD.

How does smoking cause cancer?

Among the thousands of chemicals in cigarettes, there are 69 types of cancer-causing carcinogenic chemicals. Those chemicals slowly reach the lungs and mix with the cells and blood there. Risk of cancer to lung cells. It causes a pre-malignant stage change to a cancerous cell.

Looking at the statistics of lung cancer, it was found that 90 percent smoke cigarettes. The risk of lung cancer seems to increase if you drink 15 khilli daily.

Not only that, carcinogenic substances reach other organs from the blood and cause other cancers. The scrotum is also narrowed and damaged. The ability to fight disease decreases. It increases the risk of all cancers, not just lung cancer.

According to a study by the World Health Organization, smoking kills one person every four seconds. 8 million people die worldwide every year due to smoking.

The difference between smoking and not smoking?

How did the cigarette products that cause so many problems start?

Cigarettes were previously used for medicinal purposes. The use of cigarettes became widespread in England from the 15th century. Although it was used as a medicine at that time, its smell attracted people. Which later started the wrong practice of burning the chemicals in cigarettes, smelling them, putting them in pipes, hookahs and hookahs. After this the users and its addiction increased day by day.

In the 20th century, cigarette sales and distribution started as a business, seeing that it was a commercial business. As a result, even though the awareness about the deadly effects of cigarettes has increased today, it has not been able to stop the users and sales distribution.

Today we can see a terrible addiction to cigarettes among the youth. It is common to eat by imitating friends and slowly get addicted to it. If we talk about Nepal, 25 percent of the population is addicted to cigarettes.

The vape that was introduced to remove cigarettes became dangerous

There are no attempts to overcome the addiction. The use of vape was introduced to remove the addiction to cigarettes. But the result was opposite than expected. Along with cigarettes, vape addiction also increased among the youth.

Various studies have shown that vape addiction is more dangerous than smoking. Because of this, the sale and distribution of vape in the US has been banned. But in Asian countries like Nepal, it is eaten and sold openly. While they used to hide their cigarettes and eat them, the number of those who show their vape and eat them for fashion is increasing.

How to quit smoking?

There is also a rule for giving up cigarettes. For that, the person's will is asked first. When asked if they are ready to quit smoking, if the answer is 'I can't or don't want to', then instead of saying quit, the discussion will talk about the effects of smoking.

After saying this, when asked if you will quit smoking again, if the answer is yes, how many cigarettes do you smoke? Which one did you eat? At what time all information is taken.

After getting this information, it is taken to reduce the amount and time of smoking. Nicotine replacement therapy is given to those who are unable to quit due to addiction. This therapy reduces the addiction to cigarettes. Apart from these, some medicines, yoga and meditation also reduce its addiction.

Similarly, those who want to quit smoking should be reminded not by scolding, but by motivating them without putting pressure on them. Some quit smoking and start eating khaini and tobacco. But this is a wrong practice.
